Mexican Heather Plant
Cuphea Hyssopifolia
The Mexican Heather plant is a slow growing evergreen shrub. It is hardy to 28 degrees but will grow back after a freeze. We suggest covering it if the weather calls for a hard freeze. This plant is a great alternative to lantana or other ground covers and it will provide your yard with a nice glossy green plant. It has tiny purple flowers on it that bloom almost all year. It is very lush looking and grows up to 18″ high and 2′ wide. It reminds me of something you would see in other parts of the country but it can survive our summer heat and full sun. I have 2 planted in full sun all day and they are thriving. Highly recommended.
