April is here and so is our amazing weather here in the Arizona desert. It is time to prepare your bermuda grass Arizona to wake up. When the evening temperatures stay above 65 degrees the bermuda is ready to come alive.
1. Lower mower height to 1/2 to 3/4″.
2. If you overseeding this winter with Rye grass: turn your water off for 5 days to stress out the rye grass.
3. Fertilize the bermuda grass with 21-0-0 and follow the product guidelines. If you did not overseed your grass with Rye grass this winter then you might need to put down a weed and feed to fertilize the lawn and kill the weeds that have popped up.
4. Increase your water to once a day for about 5 days and watch the Bermuda grass grow. Check the water and adjust as needed if it is too much water.
When the grass comes in, cut your water back to normal water guidelines.
